Family Favorite Places to Grab Ice Cream in MetroWest Boston | West Boston Moms

Warm weather is here and all our favorite ice cream shops are open – yay! Check out some great local spots the whole family can enjoy!

Acton

West Side Creamery

West Side Creamery, 537 Massachusetts, Acton

West Side Creamery is Acton’s first ice cream shop featuring premium handcrafted ice cream. All ice cream made on site in small batches. Best of all it’s in the heart of West Acton Village. You can enjoy sitting inside their cute shop, or find outdoor seating while taking in the sites of town.

CONCORD

Reasons to be Cheerful, Concord

Reasons to be Cheerful,  110 Commonwealth Ave, West Concord

As West Concord’s Dessert Cafe, Reasons to be Cheerful has several options to satisfy any sweet craving from your morning latte to after dinner ice cream and cookies.

All of their ice cream is made by hand, on-site, and in small batches. New flavors are made every day. That means that if you don’t see your favorite one day, it may be here the next!

Plus the shop is located right in the heart of West Concord, so there’s plenty of shops & restuarants to checkout, or just a great place to walk around.

Bedford Farms Ice Cream, 68 Thoreau St, Concord

Located in historic New England town of Concord, MA – Bedford Farms offers over 60 flavors of fresh made, locally sourced ice cream, frozen yogurt and soft serve. We love coming here because it’s right next to the train station. Catching a glimpse of the commuter rail is a family favorite! Plus, The Concord Toy Shop is right across the street. Perfect stop for getting those b-day gifts for upcoming parties.

CARLISLE

Kimball Farm, Carlisle

Kimball Farm, 343 Bedford Rd, Carlisle

Not far from the center of town, Kimball farm is a great stop for enjoying a frozen summer treat with your family and friends in a picturesque setting. It all started in 1939, when Jack Kimball and his wife Clara converted the family’s woodshed into an ice cream parlor. A cone of one of their famous flavors – maple walnut, frozen pudding or peppermint stick – would run you five cents. 80 years later, Jack and Clara’s grandson is running the Farm, and the family’s commitment to serving up award-winning homemade ice cream has withstood the test of time.

Great Brook Farm, Carlisle

Great Brook Farm State Park, 165 North Rd, Carlisle

This 1000-acre park features more than 20 miles of trails. Best of all they have an active dairy farm that offers free tours on weekends, and a yummy line up of frozen treats! We like to walk the trails, see the farm animals, and spot fish & frogs in the pond.

Westford

Kimball Farm, Westford

Kimball Farm, 400 Littleton Rd, Westford

Kimball Farm in Westford is more than just a stop for ice cream treats. They have a full service grill, which includes fresh lobster rolls, my personal favorite! There’s lots of activities to enjoy including mini golf, arcade, bumper boats, baseball, and more! This is a popular destination so make sure to plan for summer crowds.

Maynard

Erickson’s Ice Cream, Maynard

Erikson’s Ice Cream, 12 Great Rd, Maynard

This old fashion style ice cream stand is a family favorite. Most of their flavors were created in the 1930’s, some of those flavors include Apple Strudel, Pumpkin, Blueberry, and Peach.
