Meet Lucie, who is the mom behind The Slumber Squad. Base in Stow Massachusetts, Lucie offers everything your child needs for a fanciful and fun sleepover with a variety of fabulous themes perfect for girls and boys: Camping, Enchanted garden, Fortnite Gamer, Unicorn, Spa Night, and Harry Potter to name a few! She has a variety of offerings that are customizable to each party.
Here’s a little more about Lucie, and why she began her amazing business!
Can you tell us a little about yourself: where are you from, how long have you lived here, and what brought you to the area?
I’m originally from the UK. We moved to Massachusetts in 2014 for my husband’s job, and quickly settled in Stow Massachusetts, putting down roots in a new country thousands of miles from our friends and family. We didn’t have an easy start. Six months after moving here, our daughter who was one at the time was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. We were living every parent’s worst nightmare and were thousands of miles from ‘Home’.

Luckily for us, the fact that we had moved to a location close to world class hospitals and physicians probably saved our daughters life. When you’re in a situation like that, you search for every single drop of hope. We researched where in the world was the best place to treat our daughter, where she would have the best chance of survival, and discovered we were already there. Boston Children’s Hospital is number one in the world. The treatment that our daughter needed to give her the best chance of survival was not even available in the UK. We were exactly where we were meant to be.

Thankfully my daughter is now six and she is four years cancer free. The journey that we took changed me as a mom, it changed the way I do things. So many milestones and celebrations I had the thought in the back of my mind “what if it’s our last with her?” That thought was enough to make me want to make go above and beyond to bring magic to her life. I turn any occasion or event into something special, I try to make it always the ‘best ever’!
One of our favorite things to do is family movie nights. I have been known to spend hours making the coziest ‘dens’ for us to snuggle in with fairy lights, decorations cushions, and blankets. Yep, we’ll have family night, and it will be the best night ever!
I’ve recently applied my love of creating magical spaces into a business. In February I launched The Slumber Squad and I create slumber parties for children (groups, sibling, cousins, mommy and me) but they aren’t just normal slumber parties, they are the best Slumber Parties ever!!
How has the community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
We learnt very quickly that we chose a wonderful community full of people that genuinely want to help. Kindness and compassion shines very brightly in Stow.
Do you have children?
One beautiful and healthy 6 year old Gracie and one beautiful and slightly naughty puppy Rosie.
What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without your kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?

We live in such a beautiful part of world and love visiting local lakes in the summer. Our town has some of the best Apple orchards around and that’s always a fall favorite.
Davis Farmland in Sterling is one of our favorite places to visit for fun, as well as the Children’s Discovery Museum in Acton. The Nashoba Valley winery in Bolton is a beautiful spot to head to as well.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I love fantasy books, movies, TV shows. Witches, vampires, magic, dragons – can’t get enough!

What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?
We work so hard as moms, don’t forget to take the time to sit back and soak it all in.
What is your local go-to store for children’s clothes? Yourself? Furniture?
I love Tjmaxx and Homegoods!
Do you have a favorite destination for family trips? Why?
We love camping and especially have a soft spot for The White Mountains.
Smugglers notch in Vermont is a wonderful family vacation spot!
How do you relax and unwind?
A long soak in the bath tub listening to an audio book with a glass of wine is heavenly!
What is next for you?
I have lots of fun ideas planned to introduce in The Slumber Squad while I continue to grow this awesome little business. I’d like to add a few more options for non-sleepover events.
