Cabins, Fat Sheep Farm

Barnyard Animals, Fat Sheep Farm

Vermont has so much to offer for families! On this trip we decided to stay at Fat Sheet Farm, a short drive away to Woodstock, vt and many other great towns worth visiting. Everything about Fat Sheep farm was wonderful! The cabins are tastefully decorated and have everything you could possibly need. We loved spending time with the farm animals and enjoyed relaxing in the cabin. Fresh eggs from the farm and homemade scones were a lovely surprise when we arrived. The owners of the farm are wonderful and made us feel right at home.

Norwich, VT: Montshire Museum of Science & King Arthur Flour

Montshire Museum of Science

The Montshire Museum of Science was one of the highlights of our trip. When you visit you’ll be surprised at the endless amount of exhibits focused on science, nature, and technology. My daughter was mesmerized by the leaf cutter ants! The exploration continues outside in the outdoor science Park, the Woodland Garden, and along the nature trails bordering a beautiful river. There’s so much to see that you’ll definitely want to give yourself 2+ hours to explore, or maybe even come back a second day.

Katy from West Boston Moms participating in a King Arthur Baking Class

Discover King Arthur Flour flagship campus in Norwich,
Vermont. You can enjoy shopping the Baker’s Store; take a class at their Baking School; and watch the bakers at work in the busy bakery. Plus, enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, or simply a pastry and coffee at the cafe.

I enjoyed a little alone time at King Arthur Flour participating in an eclair baking class, while my husband took our daughter to Montshire Museum of Science. I definitely recommend taking a class. The instructors were amazing, providing us with wonderful training and tips of the trade. Another highlight from the day was chatting with the other participants who were from all over the country. My three hour class went by in a flash.

Woodstock, VT: Billings Farm & Museum & New England Falconry

Billings Farm and Museum

We enjoyed visiting the farm animals and walking the grounds of the Billings Farm & Museum. The museum is super close from the village center of Woodstock, Vermont. There is a  fully-operating Jersey dairy farm with educational exhibits and interactive programs and events at the farm. Some highlights on our farm adventures included; spending time with newborn cows, watching the horses in the field, and seeing historical farm equipment.

New England Falconry

New England Falconry

Visiting New England Falconry in Woodstock, VT was such a cool experience. Having a hawk fly to my hand and perch was unbelievable! Jessica our guide did a fabulous job teaching us about hawks while calling the birds to fly over to those of us who participated. Definitely worth participating vs. observing. Having a hawk perched so close to my face was pretty spectacular!

Waterbury, VT:  Ben and Jerry’s

Ben & Jerry’s

It’s not a visit to Vermont without stopping at Ben and Jerry’s to go on the factory tour and sample some of the best icecream on this planet!

A visit to the factory is a great activity for families.During the warmer months, you can enjoy the picnic and playground areas or simply pull up an Adirondack chair and take in a view of the mountains. We also walked through the Flavor Graveyard!

Other highlights included:

Travel to Windsor, VT included a fun day strolling around Artisans Park taking in all the unique sculptures and plants. The garden maze was a hit with our daughter. We also enjoyed going to the Simon Pearce Glass Blowing & Pottery Manufacturing where we watched artisans making hand blown glass creations. Plus lots of great deals in their factory outlet, which I took advantage of! I was also happy to stumble upon Silo Distillery where I brought home lavender vodka, a fabulous base for craft cocktails!
